The Pushkar Fair is one of the biggest cattle fairs of the world. This annual camel fair held at Pushkar every year, is a combination of a religious event, commercial fair and tourist event. Held in November on the auspicious day of Karthik Purnima, when Hindu's bathe in Pushkar Lake and pray at the Brahma Temple, the camel fair includes busy buying and selling of camels and cattle, along with cultural performances, a camel beauty pageant and a lot of color and activity as people, horses, camels, donkeys converge on this small town in Rajasthan. Folk dance- music, mouth-watering traditional delicacies and colorful shops spring up during this fair. A host of cultural events against the backdrop of this pretty setting are also organized including attractive puppet shows. This fair attracts the tourists across the globe.
